Princess Party

Paul and I sometimes reminisce about how we miss living in town - everything was so close and easy. We decided to recapture that feeling this weekend and spend a night at The Mayan Princess Hotel.
On the way our princess party we both agreed that first order of business was to turn the aircon up and cool down for a bit. When we got there we were pleasantly surprised – the ocean breeze was more than enough and we did not even use the ac or ceiling fans.
Our room was very well set up – open concept – comfortable king size bed – living room area – kitchen – lots of space to put our stuff and best of all big french doors with a fantastic view. We both headed straight for the veranda and spent a lot of time staring at the sea and people watching.
Even though I really liked the fact that we had a small kitchen with cooking options in our room there was no way I was going to be doing any cooking – fridge did get well used for snacks and drinks though. We opted for Banh Mi Belize at Lola’s – 2 minutes down the road and the obvious choice for dinner. We walked over and ordered our food [beef tacos and a shrimp rice bowl] then proceeded to DandE’s for dessert before dinner while Cori was making our food. I had lemon sorbet with a fudge bulls eye and Paul went for peanut butter ice cream with a fudge bulls eye and peanuts on top – both on sugar cones of course.
Th next morning my internal alarm clock had me up at 5am to catch the sunrise – unfortunately mother nature was feeling cloudy. A while later I went to go get some milk for our iced coffee and was pleasantly surprised to find continental breakfast in the lobby so I made us a tray and brought it back up to our room.
Seashell – I can see why this is your favorite place to stay when you come to Ambergris Caye. Thanks to Christine and Dennis for encouraging us to give it a try and the Mayan Princess staff for making our stay a great one.

I didn’t know the Mayan Princess had kitchens. That’s great to know because their location is one of the best. Thanks for the great review, TG!

The do Sharon – 2 burners – small fridge – sink – decent counter space and eating bar area with 2 wicker stools.

I do love being in town and sitting on the deck and people watching, better than any TV or book.

We stayed at the Mayan Princess the first time we came to town. I have to say the friendliness of the staff was amazing I would stay there just for that alone.

Hey Tacogirl!
What room were you in? I’ve never had the luxury of a king-sized bed. Always a queen with two side tables. (not that I need a king-sized bed, lol) Yes, I still love the Mayan Princess and their staff and the continental breakfast! cheeses, fruits, breads, baked goods, toast your own & jams, coffee and juices, yum. The view and location are hard to beat. . . oh heck, now I’m homesick.

Hi Seashell we were in room 19. they say once you go king size you never go back and i have to agree with that one. King here is often 2 twins together. Their breakfast was very decent and I agree location is primo – loved being that close to beach and town. Homesick – maybe it is time for you to come home.
